Newcommer's Guide
to Alanthia

Fighting

In order to gain levels in Alanthia, a player must gain
experience. The most common way of doing so is by
killing Mobiles (MOBS). Mobs are the monsters that roam
the mud. Anything that can be killed and isn't a player, is
    considered a mob.
One of the most important commands before beginning a fight
is consider. The syntax is :
    consider <mob>
There are two parts of the message recieved after considering
a mob - a comparison of your health to the mobs, and your
level to the mobs. Level is the main factor in determining
your success gainst the mob. You should look for mobs that
are perfect matches, or "do you feel lucky punk?". The amount
of experience you gain for a fight is determined by your level
as compared to the Mob's level.

The following commands are used in fighting.
flee: Flee from combat. 10 exp is lost each time you flee.
recall: Recall from combat and lose 25 exp.
kill <mob>: Initiate a fight between you and the mob
kick <mob>: With the kick skill, dirt kicks the mob
rescue <name>: Causes you to take hits rather than the
     character named

     Assasinte skill)

breathe <spell> <mob>: Cast a breathe spell on
     a mob.(Dragons)
berserk: With the berserk skill, enter a state of frenzy.
Increases damage roll but also increases armor class.
circle <mob>: With circle skill, circle a mob.
dirt <mob>: With dirt kick skill, kick dirt into the mob's eyes.
     Causes blindness.
arial <mob>: With arial skill, do an arial attack.
whirl <mob>: With whirl skill, whirl around the opponent.
trip <mob>: With trip skill, trip the mob.
bash <mob>: With the bash skill, bashes into a mob
*wimpy: Set wimpy to 20% of your hit points.
*wimpy <number>: Set wimpy to a given number
*Wimpy is used for automatic fleeing. When your hit points
become equal to or less than the set wimpy, you will
automatically attempt to flee every round.

It is possible to form groups of players to aid in fighting.
In order to form a group, every member must be following one
    character. To follow type :
    follow <name>
To group someone following you, type
    group <name>
When grouped, the experience gained by the kill will be
split between all group members. While fighting in a group,
    rescue and Gtell are useful.
Typing group with no argument will display the
    status of all group members.
To remove a character from the group, simply group them
again. To stop players from following you, type nofollow.
Nofollow toggles whether you will allow players to follow
    you or not.

In fighting, it may also be useful to have a pet.
Pets are gained by casting "charm" or "animate dead" on
a mobile or by buying a pet at a pet store. You can order
your charmies to do virtually anything. The syntax for order
    is :
    order <petname> <action>
    Replace action with any command.
