There are several methods of communication available in
Alanthia.
To comminicate directly and in real time, use channels.
Channels are used by typing command <text>
EX. gossip hi everyone.
To turn a channel off, type the name of of the channel with
no argument.
The following channels are available :

Report
will send our health, mana, and movement to the
say channel.
There are two more commands associated with channels.
They are quiet and deaf. The syntax for each is
quiet
deaf
Quiet turns of all public channels and deaf makes you unable
to recieve tells.
Reply will send a tell to the last person who sent you
a tell. Be careful using reply because mistells involving reply
are common occurances.
If you plan on going away from your keyboard (AFK) type
afk
and you will enter AFK mode. All playes attempting
to send you a tell will recieve a message telling
them you are AFK. When you return, type afk
again and all the missed tells will be shown.
If you lost your link and reconnected, typing
replay
will show all missed tells.
Another form of real-time communication is socials
and emotes. Socials are built in emotes used to express an
action or an emotion. The syntax is
social <name>
The social with out the name argument will produce a generic
form of the social. For example. rofl Shoshara
will produce the statement "You roll on the floor laughing at
Shoshara's remark". Just rofl will produce the statment
"You roll on the floor, laughing histarically."
Emotes are a way to make a custom action. The syntax is :
emote <text>
For example, "emote sits on a cloud" would be seen as
"Xxxxx sits on a cloud".
Pmotes are another form of an emote that makes an action
toward another player and in which a players name must be
used. The syntax is :
pmote <text>
An example is "pmote kicks Shoshara in the shins". Shoshara
would recieve the message "Xxxx kicks you in the shins." and
everyone else in the room would see "Xxxxx kicks Shoshara in
the shins".
A final form of emotion is Pose. Pose produces a random
message based on the players class and level. The syntax is
pose
Notes are the last form of Alanthian communication. They are
*not* a real time form of comminucation; but rather, are used
like a letter or poster or e-mail. There are 6 note
directories. They are :
Name | Syntax | Uses |
Notes | Note | Generic Out of Character notes |
Ideas | Idea | Ideas for the mud |
Qwest notes | Qnote | Notes regarding qwests |
Role-play notes | Rpnote | Notes written *In-Character* |
Changes | Change | *Immortal Use Only* Update players on current changes in the mud |
Penalties | Penalty | *Immortal Use Only* Declare a penalty given to a player |
News | News | *Immortal Use Only* Updates players on current happenings in Alanthia |
Notes are read using the following commands (insert
the syntax of the note where "note" is used for different
note directories):
note: Displays an unread note if there are any
note list: Lists all the notes in a given directory.
New notes are denoted by an N.
note catchup: Marks all notes in a given directory as
read.
note remove <number>: Remove a note you wrote
or were the target of
note read <number>: Read the selected note
The following commands are used in writing a note:
note to <player/clan/immortal/all>: sets the
targets of the note
note subject <subject>: sets the subject of the note
note + <string>: add a line of text to the note
note - : remove the current line of text from the note
note clear: erase the note in progress
note show: Show the note in progress
note post: Post the note in progress. *MUST* be done to
post a note.
