Return to The Everliving

Skyesong
Lightning flashed brilliantly, and thunder resounded
throughout the valley. Tymhestloedd, daughter of Nwyfre,
the great emerald dragon, was burdened by the egg she
carried and protected. She landed her aching, heavy body
a little clumsily on a rocky ledge. Fortunately, there
was a cave into the cliff, where Tymhestloedd took refuge
from the raging winds and rain. Her wings were soaked,
and she was chilled to the bone. 'Twas a night like this
that she was born, and her own mother, Ffrydiau, had died.
She was raised as sole child and heir to her father, Nwyfre,
who taught her the ways of magic. Tymhestloedd resolved that
she would not go in the same way as her mother. She would
survive, and raise her own child in the same way as her father.
Her mate had dissapeared, so Tymhestloedd knew her child would
be alone in the harshworld if she did not survive. This gave
Tymhestloedd newfound determination, and with that she tended
to her hatching egg. Tymhestloedd gave her newborn the name
    Awyr-Caniadau, Skyesong.

Skyesong was small, but a brilliant green in color, and
was quite strong, even in the beginning. Skyesong followed
her mother where'er she went, and soon learned the dragon
ways of magic. Skyesong loved the outdoors and nature, and
relished the valley of her youth.

One day, when Skyesong was still youthful and new in the art
of magic, she saw her mother outside their cave with a
strange black dragon. She overheard the dragon's name,
Tranc. He was all black, except for his blood-red eyes.
Skyesong sensed the fear that this stranger instilled in her
dear mother. Suddenly, Tranc spotted Skyesong and lunged
for her. As Skyesong huddled in stunned silence,
Tymhestloedd threw herself in the way and fought with Tranc
on the ledge outside their cave. The two dragons, clasped
together in violent fury, clawed at each other until the
ground was stained red. The words that Tymhestloedd
uttered seemed to have no effect on her fearsome opponent.
At last, locked together, the two fell over the edge of the
cliff to their deaths, since their wings were too damaged to
    fly.

Skyesong never knew why Tranc had come, or why he attacked
her. From that day forward, Skyesong has harbored a deep
resentment in her soul. She swears to avenge her mother's
death, but knows not how, as her mother's killer is also
dead. She wishes that he would die a thousand deaths, each
    more painful than the last.

This intense pain has made a difficult life for Skyesong,
since she has been forced to fend for herself since she
was small. The forest was always a sanctuary for her, and
she befriended all the habitants of the woods, including the
Sylvan Elves that reside there. She enjoys music, and singing,
for itsoothes her tormented soul. She is now strong in her
magic, and attempts to be pleasant around others, despite her
violent nature. However, if she ever be angered, woe to the
one on whom her wrath is unleashed.
